In 2000, Gathinja earned a College degree in Fashion Design. In 2002, Gathinja relocated to The United States to marry her husband whom she met while he was volunteering in Kenya. In the years that followed, Gathinja traveled extensively, inside and outside the USA. Here, she adopted a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Gathinja also regularly visits Kenya to nurture her connection with local artists and her family. She became a U.S. citizen in 2014, the same year she and her husband’s child was born.
Gathinja Yamokoski’s online art business journey began in 2004, managing another person's African art sales and inventory. In 2008, she was inspired by that person to create her own gallery.
