Wycliffe Ndwiga is 50 years old, though he looks much younger. He has one other brother named Sam, who also can paint well, but works in another career.
Wycliffe is married and has three children: one daughter and two sons. Ndwiga's gentle demeanor and desire to share his African art paintings with the world tops off his gift.
Wycliffe Ndwiga started painting professionally in 1992, a time when political and economic struggles were particularly harsh on the country. His sole work focuses on animal wildlife paintings. Wycliffe has never traveled outside of Kenya, but his artwork has, with tourists buying it in galleries and bringing his African artwork home with them.
But how did Wycliffe begin painting and how did he know he had a talent?
As a child, Ndwiga says he was not exposed to the art supplies many children elsewhere perhaps had the luxury of growing up with in their homes and schools. Instead, he discovered his talent when he experimented every day drawing in the most readily available medium available to him, the dried out ground dirt around his home.
As he grew older, Wycliffe Ndwiga attended a school that did not include much art in the curriculum. His passion persisted however and he was lucky enough to have other artists mentor his gift to more of what it is today.

Ndwiga most often makes his African paintings with acrylics on canvas. His paintings take you inside Africa with the fine art of the Serengeti, Mount Kenya, and of the Maasai tribe inside the Maasai Mara landscape. His artwork of African animal wildlife include elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetah, and leopards.
