Who Are You?

I am Gathinja Yamokoski, and I have bought most of the paintings directly from the artists that you see here on True African Art.

I've lived near New York City, in the United States, since 2003. My husband and elementary age Son reside with me. I came from Kenya to America in 2002. In 2014, I gained US Citizenship because I love the diversity found across the United States and the rise through history of Women and African Americans.  I revisit family, friends, and our artists in Africa whenever I am able to.

I staff Africans who operate inside the continent. My main point of contact is my family's long time friend in Kenya, Michael Kivindyo.  He and the rest stay abreast of the African art scene and work with our already posted African artists.

True African Art .com is the leading online African art gallery store that focuses on original, one of a kind, contemporary African paintings and their prints.

Where do your paintings come from?

Many of our paintings come from Kenya and Ghana, but we also have African artworks from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Cameroon, Liberia, the Congo, Sudan, and South Africa. You can see us with some of our African artist painters in videos and pictures in the About section of the website.  As of late 2024, we have hosted over 110 painters, with many of them being very much active with us.
