About Jimmy Malinga
Jimmy Malinga, artist name G’Me, lives and paints in Malawi. Originally from Kasungu, he has lived in Lilongwe, Malawi for most of his life.
He began painting at the age of eleven, with a keen interest in portraits, land scapes, and abstracts. He works full-time as a freelance artist, working to commission or selling through galleries and exhibitions.
Jimmy Malinga has been in the art business for over 20 years, the first, close to five years in Johannesburg South Africa, and over 15 years in Lilongwe Malawi. As for now he is a curator, bringing artists together and do art exhibitions.
For example, in July, 2021, he was involved in an exhibition entitled 10 Days of Malawian Contemporary Art at the Latitude 13 Hotel in Lilongwe, Malawi.
He is also an event member of Art in the Park. This is a group which do art exhibitions in four seasons in Lilomgwe twice a year. He has also worked in the Boy Who Harneses the Wind project in collaboration with ArtMal creating five murals which are installed in a computer room for students in the country side to be connected to the whole world through the Internet.

Jimmy Malinga wants to open not only a gallery in Malawi but to open live art painting whereby artists can work together in a particular space which is at a same time a gallery where clients can come and interact with artists and buy artworks if interest is manifested. Students from various schools too can be invited to learn art from the best artists in the country.
